Blockhouse Hill Design Project Update

The Town of Lunenburg is updating the community on the Blockhouse Hill Design Project, which seeks to balance heritage conservation with new residential growth, emphasizing community engagement. After public engagement sessions and Council deliberations, further exploration is underway based on Design Option 2.

Municipal Campaign School: July 13

Space is still available for the last in-person Municipal Campaign School, hosted by the Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing, in Shelburne on Saturday, July 13.

Time and Location:

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  •  Shelburne Community Centre, 63 King Street

Workshop Details:

During the workshop, you will:

  • Hear from diverse local councillors about the realities of the work.
  • Gain knowledge on getting nominated, building your team, fundraising, and running a campaign.
  • Practice networking, clear communication, and planning next steps.
  • Identify supports and resources available to potential candidates.

Bonus:

Participants can be reimbursed for childcare (up to $25 an hour for 6 hours).

Town of Lunenburg Supports New Daycare Facility

The Town of Lunenburg is excited to announce its strong support for the Lunenburg Day Care Centre's application for provincial funding to build a new facility. This project aims to meet the growing need for quality childcare in our community and create a versatile space that will benefit everyone.

One way the Town is supporting this project is by assisting the Lunenburg Day Care Centre in finding a new location, including the potential provision of Town-owned land. The Town is exploring the possibility of a new mixed-use daycare and recreation building at the recreation complex.

Join the Cultural Tourism Working Group!

Are you passionate about cultural tourism? Do you want to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Lunenburg's cultural landscape? If so, we need YOU to join our Cultural Tourism Working Group!

What's the Task? You'll be instrumental in conducting a Cultural Tourism Economic Impact Study and developing a Sustainable Cultural Tourism Plan, as part of the Strategic Tourism Expansion Program.

Are you a Dares Lake property owner? Join the Source Water Protection Advisory Committee!

The Town of Lunenburg invites property owners in the Dares Lake area to help safeguard our community's water supply by joining the Source Water Protection Advisory Committee (SWPAC).

We Need Your:

• Engagement: Attend meetings and contribute to watershed management discussions.
• Insight: Share your experiences and knowledge as a Dares Lake property owner.
• Collaboration: Work with a diverse group to develop sustainable water protection strategies.
• Advocacy: Promote responsible land use and water protection in our community.

Your Role:

• Influence watershed protection policies and practices.
• Advise on land use and water management to ensure water safety.
• Help educate the community about protecting our water resources.
