Last month, we communicated with Town of Lunenburg Water Utility customers that they would be receiving a notice introducing them to Neptune Technology Group – the company contracted to install new water meters. In addition to serving as an introduction, this notice contains contact information for setting up installation appointments.
Neptune is using a staggered approach to contact residents to better coordinate appointments, and as such, some residents have yet to receive their letter. The process began on December 29 and is ongoing and please rest assured that every Town of Lunenburg Water Utility customer will receive a letter in due time.
Thank you for ensuring that our valued water source continues to be managed and protected for years to come.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Did you know?
Truth and Reconciliation (“T&R”) Recommendations were made to Canada’s Federal Government in 2015. One of those recommendations is 79 (iI) that says:
Revising the policies, criteria, and practises of the National Program of Historical Commemoration to integrate indigenous history .into Canada's national heritage and history.
In August, Lunenburg Town Council endorsed a process underway by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada (“the Board”) and Parks Canada for Review of the designation of Old Town Lunenburg’s Historic District National Historic Site of Canada.
What this means?
The Town is now engaged in a process that will see a Parks Canada historian:
Conduct research and public engagement with community members, subject experts and local stakeholders, and ultimately present a report to the Board.
With it's foundation in the T&R recommendations, this work will help lay the groundwork for current and future initiatives aimed at ensuring an authentic and relevant representation of history and inclusivity under T&R Recommendation 79, especially underrepresented histories.
Note: This review does not relate to the World Heritage designation specifically, but to the National Historic Site designation.
