UPDATE ON PLANNED SECOND PERIOD OF DISRUPTION – Scheduled for week of March 9, 2026

The second disruption period associated with the headworks equipment upgrades at the Lunenburg Wastewater Treatment Plant planned for 21 hours during the week of March 9 is no longer required.

The contractor was able to strategically complete the scheduled tasks under favourable incoming flow conditions to avoid needing to shut off any lift stations and cause an overflow into the Front Harbour. This has saved an estimated wastewater overflow of 2,975 m3 from entering Lunenburg’s Front Harbour and follows on from the successful performance of the first period of disruption earlier this week.

A further period of disruption remains tentatively scheduled in the week of March 30. Further details shall be provided by the Town closer to that time confirming the date and time for the commencement of that event.
