Town of Lunenburg Council has given first reading to two proposed by-laws and will hold public hearings to gather community feedback as part of its regular Council meeting on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.
The public hearings will take place at Town Hall (please use the back entrance on Townsend Street).
Proposed By-laws
The following by-laws are being brought forward for public input:

Marketing Levy By-law
A proposed by-law to establish a 3% marketing levy on short-term accommodations within the Town, with funds dedicated to tourism promotion as permitted under provincial legislation. -
Tour and Horse-Drawn Vehicle By-law
A proposed by-law to replace the existing Hack and Trolley By-law and modernize the framework for licensing and regulating commercial tour vehicles and horse-drawn carriage operations, including strengthened animal welfare protections.
